Street Scenes (1978-82) Updated Jan 5/02 Background Canadian street scenes debuted July 6, 1978 with the release of 3 values. A 60c value followed in 1982. The 50c and 60c values are tagged; the 75c and 80c are not. The 3 initial values (50c, 75, 80c) were printed by the British American Bank Note Company. The Canadian Bank Note printed the 60c value and a second printing of the 50c value (noticeable differences exist). BABN used photogravure; CBN uses lithography. These two printing methods produced different results on the 50c value.
The date shown is the date of issue of that specific variety. A "blank" means the item does not exist. The 50c value has the only major error of these 4 stamps: missing inscriptions (dubbed "Ghost Town"). This value has many other minor errors, including kiss print, albino kiss print, doubling of brown inscriptions.
