Parliament (1977-79) Updated Jan 5/02 Background
The Parliament design featuring the Peace Tower was the first time that the Queen's image did not appear on a Canadian first-class letter-rate definitive. Two of the values were only issued in a vending machine booklet. As a result, they have at least one straight edge. This was the first time that Canada issued a design that was not available in a sheet version. Two stamps come on both dull and hi-brite paper, when viewed under an ultraviolet light: 12c (sheet) and 14c (coil). Both are relatively scarce. All of the stamps with the design are single-colour, engraved. All sheet stamps were issued in panes of 100, coils in rolls of 100, and booklets in vending machine format that sold for 50c. All of the coil stamps exist imperforate.
The date shown is the date of issue of that specific variety. A "blank" means the item does not exist.
