They come in either booklet or coil form. separate the Red 1997 stamps into two piles: booklet versus coil. there are 5 identifiable varieties of the booklet singles. They come from either a pane of 10 or pane of 5. The lower left stamp of each pane is different from the other pane. The lower left stamp from the pane of 10 has a Peak at the lower right corner; the lower left stamp from the pane of 5 has a Valley at the lower right corner. The scott number for any position from either booklet is 2921 (var 1997). As noted in the diagram to the right, there are coloured triangles on the selvedge of the booklet pane. If there is a slight shift of the perforation cuts, small parts of these coloured triangles will appear on a single stamp from the booklet. The coil was printed in rolls of 3,000. Two different varieties exist: one with 9/10 peaks, the other with 10/10 peaks. Sorting tip: as evident in the illustration below, the 9/10 stamp begins with a valley at the upper left while the 10/10 stamp begins with a peak (ie. there is no need to count the individual peaks). There is one plate number available for either variety. The scott number for either coil variety is 2915D. Click for PNC list.
