Build new Trench

The northwest corner of the land is the lowest spot which accumulates all of the spring thaw. The goal is to have this water flow directly north through the tree line and out of the 'maintained' yard side.

On south side, looking north.

Two days prior (August 30), Leona and Robert cut and cleared some dead branches and trees; the wire fence was cut. The tractor just squeezes through. The ditch on the north side was started two days earlier. This side was started this morning.

A view from the north side of the tree line, looking south.

This is also on the north side of the tree line. A 'diagonal' trench will route the water towards the NE corner of the 'north 40' and then eventually down to the road ditch.

While digging the trench I was able to scoop up this 12 foot tree. We transplanted it just outside of the deck in the hope that it will take hold and provide some nice shade.
